We had a blast waking up early Thanksgiving morning to participate in our local charity Run for Pie with Fleet Feet Sports Aptos-Monterey. Not only do they always do such an amazing race, but this one finished with pie!
This was also a special race for me because my No Boundaries group that has been doing their "couch to 5k" training crossed the finish line and rocked it as well. So proud of their dedication and persistence and training!
Another thing that made this race memorable was that the No Boundaries training group for homeless veterans from Monterey also did it! You want to be inspired come to a run with these amazing men/women wearing their red shirts and moving along quickly, some wih canes!! What a neat experience and joy to run with them!
Thank you Fleet Feet for your work in the community and commitment to not only getting people moving but moving their mental health in a great direction too!
And of course this little man #1 had a blast doing his kids run. He finished second to last due to his legs being much shorter than the other participants, as well as his need to stop and wave to people cheering him. I am continually reminded of what an extrovert this child is of ours! He cracks me up and has so much fun at these events and of course eating the snacks after.
After our run we came home for Sawyer's Thanksgiving nap and to FaceTime my family and then joined some dear friends and their family for a Thanksgiving feast! It was very fun!!
I am always reminded with work/life how tough holidays are for so many. This week was a rough one in ways; so thankful for family and friends to celebrate with, be real with and laugh with.
We are grateful for also living in a beautiful place with constant reminders of Gods creative hand!
Friday I woke up and opened the Christmas decoration boxes! One of my favorite holiday times. Decorated a little and then hit up Target before work. After work the boys picked me up and we got our tree!!! Spent the evening decorating and then starting a new tradition of Sawyer finding a present under the tree after his bath of new jammies and a Christmas movie.
This kid loves Christmas and is at a fun age this year! Thankful to see it all through his eyes and celebrate in our home.
Trying to find more fun art stuff for him throughout the weeks because he loves it- so let the Christmas crafts begin!
Thankful as well for the reason we celebrate! Christ has come!!! Praying that the peace he brings guards our hearts and minds this season.
