I am not artsy at all! I always admire crafy people (like all my sisters), yet I do not have an ounce of that in me.
However, in the spirit of trying new things this year, I did a project today. This year I am working on if I see someone doing something and think "wow that's so cool, wish I could do that!", that I am going to try it (paddle boarding, zip lining, etc.). So chalk paint just happen to fit the criteria. My sister Carisah and some friends have recolored older wooden furniture and it's something I wanted to try. Carisah assured me I could do it on my own and
So today I took the challenge.
Since we moved into our little beach cottage I have been working towards making the living room have more of a beach vibe. Most of our furniture we have been given, which we are extremely grateful for, however sometimes with that we can lose what we would really like things to look and feel like. Even though things have been given to us, they can still reflect our taste. So one thing I've wanted to recolor is our large and in charge entertainment center/bookshelf. I wanted it to blend in more and also just feel lighter. So today, with Annie Sloan's Old White as my sidekick I did it.
*I should also mention all the help Matt was in taking stuff off the shelves and taking Sawyer to the park for an hour so I could tackle this project. Thanks lover!
I love how it turned out! I highly recommend this paint, it is a little pricey, but ultimately cheaper than a new piece of furniture!
So is there anything you've really wanted to try and when you put all the excuses aside you have no reason not to?! Do it. It is fun and a little risk & adventure.
