Such a fun morning with TONS of people. Had the joy of running the giants 5k with 7,500 others. It was pretty cool to be able to finish on the field!
It was an easy race to get too and can't beat $10 parking that was easy to find! I was a little anxious about navigating, but piece of cake!
The start of the race was rough. We ended up starting 43 mins after the original start time of 10:50am.
The 1/2 marathon and 10k started at 7am. However, due to the popularity of the 5k there was a late start and then different waves starting every 10-15 mins. Sadly, I was in the last wave with tons of walkers an strollers. Which meant the first 1/2 mile was sooooooo SLOW. Hard to get around people. However, once I hit 0.5 miles I cranked my iPhone jams and cruised along! It was hot and I was hungry, but my music kept me going. I actually think I would have PR-Ed if I had smoother sailing the first 1/2 mile.
This was the first race I've used ear phones at. I may never turn back, my music helped me keep a pace and look like a crazy lady rocking out! Both wonderful things :)
I finished in about 37 mins and was not pleased with the time, but pleased with how I pushed myself after getting through and around the crowds.
Such a beautiful place to run at! Next year I will plan on the 10k or half though! Earlier and less crowded :)!
