This was a very rough and amazing day for me. I started the marathon knowing I could go farther than three miles (the 5k) but not thinking I could finish due to intense pain in my heel (plantars fasciitis) I had been experiencing for the past two months. However, due to a wonderful running buddy, a NP Patty, I was pushed through the finish line...a slow, but completed half, and ironically my heel has been significantly better ever since.
Because of this day, a couple weeks ago, I really want to pursue some new goals for 33. It was painful to finish that half marathon, but knowing I wasn't going to be any more hurt and could do it, really gave me the motivation to do so, even when I knew my sister would pick me up at any time I needed it, I had an easy out, but finished. There are so many things that are tough in life and hard and need to be fought for and pushed through, just like the pain in my heel: physical, emotional, relational and spiritual things. I continue to hope that I will have the courage and motivation to do so. I won't be blogging about all these things, but I did think it would be fun to blog about some, such as:
1) Drinks: I receive a wonderful Vitamix blender for my birthday. Instead of posting a million pictures and smoothie recipes on facebook that I create (I don't follow receipes well), I will put them here. I am hoping I can be creative enough to make up good names for them. However, considering, Matt even created my blog name, I may let him do so.
2) Shrinks: I have a lot of thoughts on counseling, as a therapist, and may share a few, but the part of counseling I love the most is seeing people take care of themselves physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually and hope to touch of elements of that. (keep myself accountable for my own self care)
Intentionally the "shrinks" is more about head stuff, but I will not be sad if my waistline also shrinks with all these delicious and healthy creations in my Vitamix, see Point 1. :)
3) Stinks: We (Matt, Sawyer and I) love to adventure and have been doing more together and participating in more races together. My reviews will not be as fun and crazy to read as Matt's (he is definitely the writer), but I hope to keep a journal of such things here.
Lastly, I do hope to put out a blog at least once a week, and maybe surprise myself with more....Enjoy :)
