Today I did something I've been wanting to do...because I finally had no excuses left.
(This year I have been working on if I see or hear of something that sounds great to me and it is reasonable for me to attempt then I will do just that.)
There is this run/hike in Nisene Marks that I keep hearing everyone do. It sounded terrible and grueling, but also super rewarding with the view and downward jog after climbing to the 1600 feet view point at Sandpoint. (A view that did not disappoint)
So last night I told Matt, since we had a free day together with no child, that I wanted to attempt it. He was game!
We decided since my recent half marathon training has only been about 7 miles we better start from the 2nd parking lot and make our adventure about 11.5ish miles. (Some crazy, I mean amazing, people can make the Sandpoint jog about 18-20 miles :) ).
Not only did I slowly accomplish the grueling climb and decent, I wore a hydration pack for The first time too. It was not stunning but super comfy and way better than carrying water bottles for the hours we ventured out!
We were also excited that the pancake breakfast was still going at Fleet Feet-Aptos after our run! Russ and Tina we love your breakfast pancakes and may show up on your new porch for them ;) just kidding, but seriously thank you for filling our bellies!
Matt and I also had the joy of catching a Giants game tonight, thanks to his boss' generosity! It was fun and also so great to bump into so many friends from our hometown. (sorry we didn't hang out more, we just had really great seats and were on a date.)
I should be sleeping now, but I am reflecting on how terrible my legs hurt, but it's a good pain and a reminder that I may not be the fastest runner/hiker, but I did not give up and was able to do it!!!
This week I have also be intentional in reading more. It is something I admire in others and use to do more frequently so I am taking time to do so again.
This is a great book. It says for parenting, but it is so personal about what is greatness verses success. I highly recommend it! I appreciate the reminders in it to be others focused and more.
Ok almost done- the other adventure of the week that I had been putting off but finally tackling is...
Potty training! Sawyer was a rockstar this week and is slowly getting it :) I am
Sure it will be a long road- he'd rather play than take time for the potty, but he is surprising me with stopping to go and even telling me when...so this adventure will continue.
Is there anything you have been putting off and want to tackle or accomplish? Do it!
